My second feature film is a black comedy which mainly takes place in one apartment, where a bunch of young kids and their parents gather to celebrate 8-year-old Filippo: but the birthday party slowly turns into a civil war between the adults.
Laura Chiossone wonderfully directs a brilliant cast led by Anna Foglietta (Simona, Filippo’s mum) and keeps the film in steady balance between comedy, drama and grotesque. I had to use all my resources to navigate through actors’ improvisations, dancing scenes, choral moments and musical climax. An exciting roller-coaster ride.
